The first night and the first death

Why this matters. After the day part comes the night. The mafia makes the agreed shot, the sheriff checks a player, and the don looks for the sheriff in the prescribed order.

What to do. If you are a civilian, keep complete silence at night and follow the host's commands. If you are killed, give a last word only when the rulebook allows it. In the last word, give a position that can be checked and your priorities, not personal grievances.

How it sounds. "My last word: three and nine are in conflict; I would check nine and carefully review how four voted."

Practice. Write a "testament" in 40 seconds based on three known facts.

Typical mistakes. Inventing a sheriff check that you do not have.
