What to do. Think of one signal that is not obvious but is unambiguous, decide in advance who carries it out and what the backup action is. Make sure the scheme does not need forbidden communication outside your own minute.

How it sounds. "A study example: a phrase agreed in advance, inside your own speech, means a switch to the reserve target."

Practice. Play five rounds in which one partner must recognise the signal with no hints.

Typical mistakes. Phrases that occur by chance, or a code that is too visible.
